Powerful DSL empowers financial specialists

The Calculation Engine executes calculation models that are specified in a Domain Specific Language (DSL). This DSL is specifically designed with financial specialists in mind. With little training, they can create, test, and publish any calculation. Without the need for programmers to step in!

Tailor pricing and risk models

Fyndoo’s Originate and Manage modules use the Calculation Engine to execute its pricing and risk models. These models can be tailored to the specific requirements of your business. As the Calculation Engine is an independent service, all applications (so, not just Fyndoo) can make use of these calculations. This guarantees consistency between - for example - a loan price calculated during application in a mobile app and the price calculated at origination in Fyndoo.

Available through a REST API

Once published, the calculations are available through a REST API. Client applications, like server applications, web apps and mobile apps, can access the service by invoking requests to the Calculation Engine. A OpenAPI 3.0 (yaml) specification is available that specifies the API and can be used to generate client libraries for all relevant languages.

The API supports versioning. When there is a breaking change in a calculation (like a new, mandatory input parameter is added), a new version can be published. Existing apps can still use the previous version until their code is adapted to the changed interface of the new version.

The Calculation Engine is engineered for precision from the ground up. It consistently provides calculations you can trust. As the Calculation Engine can be used in many different contexts, including high-volume web sites and mobile apps, the single-node response time is extremely low. The calculation engine runs in a high-availability elastic scaling environment to ensure availability and consistent performance.

Pure Stateless Service

The Calculation Engine doesn't deal with data persistence or state, but rather processes the data it receives to produce a result based on its computational logic as defined in its model. 

Each request is processed independently without reliance on previous interactions. The service does not store any data or state between requests. The service is self-contained and does not depend on external services or APIs for its calculations. 

Note: In test environments, it is possible to switch calculations to a debug mode which provides logging allowing for detailed inspections of calculations and intermediate results.
